An Australian security researcher has uncovered a serious security flaw in IOS 7 & 8, and in OSX, to do with the AirDrop facility to transfer files between Apple devices in close proximity to eachother.

More information can be found on this news article on the Stuff website.  But basically to protect yourself from malicious attack you need to disable both AirDrop and disable Apple's Control Centre from working on the lock screen.

This issue has been patched in IOS9, so all iPhones, iPads etc that have been upgraded to IOS9 are safe from this issue.  However, as yet there is no patch in OSX, so Macs are still vulnerable.
